ABOUT ME

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Registered Art Therapist specializing in teen, individual, couples, and family psychotherapy.  For the past ten years I have maintained a private practice in Auburn, CA. I am also a husband and father of two young children.

I enjoy working with adults, and I focus on creating a relationship based on truth and trust, so that I can help foster recovery, communication, and growth. Quite often, therapy is a process of unhooking the pieces of your soul that got snagged on the jagged points of your traumatic past and brining them back together into your current-self consciousness. This "gathering in" of your lost pieces will help you feel whole again, with a renewed sense of self, increased energy, and profound mental clarity. For others, therapy is solution focused on current issues and is aided by learning a fresh set of coping skills. In any event, the most powerful changes occur when the healthy growth made in my office is translated to meaningful improvements out in the real world.

CLINICAL BACKGROUND

With more than fifteen years experience as a clinician, I have worked in a variety of intensive treatment settings, including Placer County Juvenile Hall.  A graduate of Notre Dame de Namur University and University of California at Davis, I am currently serving as a private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients. My areas of expertise are art therapy, depression, non-defensive communication, anger-control, stress, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, and trauma recovery, among others.

My clients say I am kind, supportive, and insightful.

In addition, I have given lectures and classes to both professional and general audiences on topics ranging from art therapy to parenting to suicide intervention.

My treatment approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients resolve current problems and long-standing patterns.  I am a practical, interactive, solution-focused therapist. I incorporate a blend of conventional and alternatives approaches, drawing upon a variety of styles and techniques to find what will be most helpful for each client. With sensitivity and compassion, I work with each client to help them build on their strengths to identify and achieve their life goals.
